Assistant Front Office Manager

Assistant Front Office Manager · £38,000 per year + Accommodation Service Charge · Full Time (including evenings and weekends)

The Standard is one of the most culturally engaged hotels in the world. Hotels with real cultural life, an inclusive spirit and a true creative attitude. A destination layered with events and amusements that leaves you with an uplifted feeling...

At the cultural heartbeat of The Standard is our team who bring to life our spaces, engage with our guests and vibrate social energy, day and night across our numerous bars, restaurants, event spaces and guest areas. Our hotel is a destination brimming with events and entertainment that leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.

We encourage you to express yourself and celebrate your individuality – no rigid scripts or conformity here (okay, maybe a few rules).

Now, we’re looking for an Assistant Front Office Manager who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos! If you're ready to join a team that's all about creativity, inclusivity, and fun, we’d love to hear from you!

What You'll Do

Step into the spotlight as our Assistant Front Office Manager, leading a team of outstanding Front Desk Agents, Supervisors, and Duty Managers. Your mission? To deliver an unforgettable experience for our guests from the moment they book to the time we wave goodbye.

Your daily adventures will include:

  • Team Leadership: Delegate tasks and guide your team to ensure our guests receive top-tier hospitality, from smooth check-ins and check-outs to handling queries and fulfilling unspoken wishes.
  • Rota: Demonstrated experience in creating and managing rotas while optimizing labour efficiency
  • Guest Experience Maestro: Work closely with our Front of House Manager and Guest Relations Managers to address complaints, log issues, and take action to turn any hiccup into a positive experience.
  • Detail Wizardry: Partner with Housekeeping to oversee all accommodation services, managing room allocations, VIPs, and special requests with precision and special attention to details.

What You Bring to the Table

You’re not just any team leader—you’re a natural star. Staying calm in challenging situations, whether it's guest complaints, scheduling woes, or team dynamics, is your superpower. Flexibility is key as no two days are the same; you’ll need to adapt to busy days, maintenance issues, emergencies, or lending a hand wherever needed. Alongside leading your team, you'll also handle staff scheduling and training with finesse.

This isn't your standard Assistant Front Office Manager role. You’ll need:

  • Energy and Passion: High stamina and a love for the fast-paced, high-energy hotel environment.
  • Social Savvy: Be upbeat, friendly, and highly social.
  • Confidence Under Pressure: Stay cool and composed, handling pressure like a pro.
  • Team and Independence: Work equally well independently and as part of a wider management team.

What We're Looking For

At The Standard, London, we blend serious guest experience with a lighthearted attitude. Our 'Standard People' are vibrant, dynamic, and engaging. Here’s what we’re seeking in you:

  • Experience: Several years in a Senior Front Office, Duty Manager, or Assistant Front Office Management role within the UK or International Hospitality industry.
  • Proven Background: Strong experience in Front Desk/Office operations, ideally in a 'Lifestyle' or boutique hotel.
  • Flexible Hours: Ability to work shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends. We offer opportunities for flexible working schedules.
  • Admin and Organization Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and team supervision skills.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is a must; additional languages are a plus.
  • Systems: Experience with Opera PMS, Knowcross, Microsoft and NOR1.

We celebrate personality and diversity. If you think you have what it takes to be an Assistant Front Office Manager at The Standard, we’d love to hear from you!
