NEW YORK
Bathroom at AREA. Photo: Volker Hinz
AREA was just what a club ought to be: Crazy dance floor, constantly changing art installations, Warhol, Basquiat, Haring and Scharf constantly popping by, and JFK Jr. waiting impatiently to get in. (Amazing shot Richard!) To celebrate the art, the revelry, and the club kids who created all the fuss, a tribute show is being exhibited at The Hole gallery. AREA-inspired pieces were created by Tom Sachs, Steve Powers, and Todd James (who recently made some rather motivating T-shirts for us).

MIAMI
A Queer and Curios Cabinet, Hernan Bas
Grasping a concept that floats freely in a reality unaware of the constraints of time may be beyond the comprehension of most, but that's premise of Bass Museum's new show "Time" that opened last week. Miami local Hernan Bas created a cabinet room to display aging artifacts from his personal collection as an homage to time's passing.
