Splish, Splash: The Standard Does Songkran

Perfected in Miami Beach, The Standard Pool Party is about to make a splash in Hua Hin. We’re hosting our very first installment to celebrate—fittingly—the Songkran festival. Picture it: streets full of revelers tossing buckets, firing water pistols, spraying hoses and soaking passersby with abandon, all in good fun. This ancient Thai tradition marks the new year’s astrological passage with public water “fights” to cleanse the spirit. Now picture yourself lounging poolside in the city center of Hua Hin (with direct access to the beach), soaking up Songkran. 

When The Standard Spa, Miami Beach opened its doors in 2005, we transformed pool culture for good. Our world-renowned pool vibe is washing ashore in Hua Hin. Prepare to be completely enchanted with DJ sets by DJ Spencer, DJ Shir Khan and DJ Monster P. Through the weekend, Lido will serve up a special menu of bevvies and bites to reflect the fest. Enjoy delicious food and drinks all day long: We'll be serving up plates of pasta and freshly-made pizza from the oven by the pool, along with craft cocktails that are sure to keep you refreshed and hydrated throughout the day.

To echo Lido's Italian flare, we've got something really special up our sleeve. After making their debut during Miami's legendary Art Basel confab, The Standard's signature Pool Pasta will make an appearance in Hua Hin. These inflatable noodles are inspired by familiar Italian culinary forms: macaroni, shells, farfalle, rigatoni, lasagna, tortellini, and ravioli, that feel right at home in a “pot” of water. Designed to be lounged on, each design translates its pasta inspiration into an “Emoji-fied” form. The concept is equal parts absurd and intuitive—destined to satisfy oversized appetites for R&R.
